Case Report #27 Emerald (Tumors, Arthritis)

History: Emerald was already on the other side of her prime when we met. Emerald was lame after running and demonstrated a “shifting leg lameness,” according to her owner.  She also had a periodic vaginal discharge.

Emerald was not really “sure” of her vet, and consequently, I was a bit nervous about her because of her size and timidness. Over the years we came to an agreement, and I got the feeling that she might have actually enjoyed the scratch behind the ears and the pats on her head that she got whenever we tested her.

Her owner was devoted to Emerald throughout her life, so she enjoyed a longer than usual one. Most Great Danes are considered “old” when they reach seven years old. Emerald fooled the odds. A Breed Association web page says that Danes’ “life expectancy is less than ten years, but some live as long as 12 or 13 years.” Emerald lived to be a healthy 17 years! Just as I will never forget  her long and happy life, I will never forget her passing.

As happened so many times, Emerald started her nutrition therapy using oral supplements, only switching to Harmonic Translation when a large number of cases proved its efficacy. Emerald went on “straight” Harmonic Translation in 2003. Therapy during the intervening years is included for completeness. It should also be noted that muscle testing revealed that some supplements (such as Calcium Lactate, Biost and sometimes Bio Dent) were best provided orally.

Owner is amazed that Emerald is still with us at sixteen years of age and in such great condition. We agree it would be better if she did not have the tumors, but we do not want to risk surgery. Owner has decided that the volume of “pills” required has become prohibitive (Finances are “tight.”) so she will rely on Harmonic Translation from now on.

NOTE: Now that viruses and chemicals are cleared, the importance of allergies is showing up in spades. This tendency has been observed consistently in other cases. Our supposition is that the aging process is really, after viruses and chemicals are controlled, the sum of all allergies.

Emerald was playing in the sprinklers and got water in her ear. An infection developed. Before she could be treated, the irritation caused her to shake her head violently and a hematoma formed in her left ear. The hematoma required surgical correction, which was successful. However, the infection returned (sprinklers again?) and she shook her head again soon after removing her compression bandage, and another aural hematoma formed.

Incidentally, we used muscle response testing to determine the dose of tranquilizer needed for Emerald. We were amazed that she required only 20% of the calculated dose for a dog of her body weight. Her clinical response indicated that any more would have been an overdose! (Who knows what would have happened if we had administered the normal amount of tranquilizer?)

Financial constraints caused owner to request that Harmonic Translation be discontinued. Our heavy workload dictated that we not provide free treatment. When owners see the difference, they usually start therapy once again.

Emerald responded immediately to the renewed Harmonic Translation sessions, but something was different. Several allergies were cleared remotely during the intervening days.

On December 10, 2004, Emerald’s owner called in a panic saying that Emerald was down and not doing well, and that she was going to rush her in. Before I could suggest that we test by telephone to save time and stress, Emerald and her owner were on the road. When they arrived, Emerald was lying on her side on the back seat of the SUV. Her eyes were bright, but she looked weak.

I patted her affectionately on her head, which she had lifted to look me in the eye. As I went back to talking over a plan with her owner, Emerald took a deep sigh. . . and . . .just that quickly . . . She was gone. It was as if Emerald had waited to say goodbye to her doc. She is now buried on the property where she guarded the horses and other animals, not to mention her loving owner.
